Embarking on a new journey to master something or sticking to long held visions takes energy and focus. There is a definite cheat sheet to mastery of any kind though and it may be more simple than you think.
These 5 tips will keep you clutter free in your visions and help smooth out the process to rockin’ what you most desire.
1. Set an intention.
This could be an emotional, a spiritual or a physical goal that you have for each practice or step towards making your dream a reality. It often helps to write down these intentions and keep them close by to reflect on. Like the glossy picture of a bikini body stuck to your fridge door having your intention visible acts as a reminder.
I often think of intentions as the “feeling” part of achieving my goals. My primary intention is to FEEL GOOD, in everything I do so when I am stepping into a new practice with the hoop, writing, creating, relating, decision making I set the “feeling” intention. Sometimes briefly, but often it takes a centered, relaxed moment of focus on the feel-good goal.
The feeling intention also acts as a barometer, when it feels good I am getting close to my goals. And when it doesn’t feel good? Make it or ditch it. We always have choices, always.
Intentions are fueled by desire and without that desire, there is no new source of creativity, so if you can line your intentions up with your desires or wants that you have in your practices you are going to more easily slip into that state of flow that we are all searching for.

2. Be confident.
As your confidence in your skills and abilities start to heighten those feelings of fear, doubt and frustration will start to release.
Now to truly nurture your confidence you have to be proactive. Become a very good listener. Tune in to your inner chatter, catch it, watch it, observe when it is louder and when it skulks in the background. And then get really matter-of-fact about tidying it up…get Mary Poppins on that voice!
When you hear it ranting, “I still haven’t achieved such and such” “Check her out, how did she get that before me” “I am just too old/too fat/too unfit/too …” Look that negative self-talk straight between the eyes and state clearly “I hear you but that is not the way we do things around here anymore” Proactively turn the old garbage into new treasures, statements of empowerment.
- I am working towards my intentions
- I feel good with what I have achieved
- I always get what I want or something even better
- I do what I love and it makes me feel good
3. Be patient.
Possibly one of the hardest on the list, particularly if you are a go-getter that wants it all right now! Being patient is about trusting the natural order of things and understanding the building blocks are just as powerful as the castle that is built upon them. When we see the interrelatedness of all elements of our life and success then we become more patient with the learning process and know that it is just a matter of time.
4. Take Action.
Patience and action are really great mates. Trusting the process and putting in the work to further the journey. Focus on taking small and consistent steps coupled with large, bold leaps when the time is right. Overnight success is the very rare exception, continuously moving towards intentions and goals is about being a daily success in everything we do.
Action has a lot of enemies; self-doubt, procrastination, laziness, even busyness. Having well-planned strategies, scheduled practice times, fun intentions and sparkling rewards can be helpful.
5. Be creative.
If you think about it life, in general, is one big expression of creativity. When you can open up to allowing creativity you will find many pathways and strategies that support your intentions and success.
Explore. Learn. Grow. When we remember to tap into our greatest sources of inspiration and information, then take action mastery is all ours.
