Isolations; the magic of hoop dance. What are they and how to do them.

Isolations are captivating moves that create the illusion of your hula hoop floating in air while moving through space. Sounds magical right? They are.

There are many types of isolations that you can play with, many of them take some practice and play time.

Linear (meaning line) isolations are the kind that make the hoop look like it is sliding across an imaginary line.

Center or circular isolations done with one or two hands are those isolations that look like the hoop is levitating in one spot while moving in a circular motion.

Ghosting isolations are when one hand is creating the movement and the other hand is tracing to create illusion

There are also 3D style isolations like smears or orbits.

A great way to bring strength and precision into your isolations is to drill them or practice them in intervals. Here are some isolation drills including a wide variety of isolations.
